In the late 1960s, US guitar manufacturers faced significant competition from affordable, high-quality Japanese-made guitars that closely resembled American models. To regain their market share, American companies launched Sigma Guitars in 1970. These acoustic guitars, crafted by skilled workers in efficient Japanese factories, were inspected in the US before being sold. Sigma Guitars quickly established a reputation for their exceptional quality in both construction and sound, leading to a dedicated fan base and collectors. Second-hand models are rarely available as owners are reluctant to part with them.
Introducing the Sigma Standard Series, which features hand-selected solid spruce tops paired with an ultra-thin high gloss finish. This series is designed to offer superior sound quality and aesthetic appeal, making it an excellent choice for discerning musicians.
The Sigma DT-41 is a standout model in this series. It has a D-14 fret body size and a dovetail neck joint, ensuring stability and resonance. The top is made from solid Sitka spruce, known for its strength and clarity of sound. The back and sides are crafted from Tilia, providing a balanced tone. The mahogany neck has a low profile for comfortable playability, and the nut and saddle are made from bone, enhancing the guitar's overall sustain and tone.
The fingerboard and bridge are made from Micarta, a durable and smooth material that contributes to the instrument's playability. This model goes beyond with extensive abalone inlay on the fretboard and rosette, catering to those with an elegant taste in acoustic guitars. The DT-41 has a scale length of 25.4 inches and a neck width at the nut of 1-3/4 inches, making it suitable for various playing styles.
Additional features include a two-way truss rod for precise neck adjustment, Grover Gold open-gear tuning machines with Butterbean knobs for stable tuning, and a polished gloss finish with aging toner for a classic look. The guitar comes with D'Addario EXP16 strings and includes an SSC-D softshell case for protection. The Sigma DT-41 is a perfect blend of tradition, quality, and modern enhancements, making it a valuable addition to any guitarist's collection.
